The Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association (SLBWA), in partnership with the Ministry for Persons with Disabilities, is set to launch a ‘Blindfold Walk’ this month to raise awareness about the challenges of vision loss.
This initiative will engage parliamentarians, heads of government institutions, permanent secretaries, and other personnel, encouraging them to better understand the difficulties faced by individuals living with disabilities, including blindness and vision loss.
The SLBWA expresses its satisfaction with the establishment of the Ministry for Persons with Disabilities. SLBWA’s Executive Director, Anthony Avril, emphasised that while the focus is on policymakers, the event aims to heighten awareness of the challenges experienced by people with disabilities in the community.
This month’s event will be held under the theme: “See Our World Through a Blindfold Walk and Blind Cricket Demonstration.”
