On Sunday, January 12, 2025, at about 5:45 p.m., police officers attached to the Soufrière Police Station received a report of a suspected drowning at St. Philip, Fond St. Jacques, Soufrière.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the unresponsive body of a male in St. Philip, Fond St. Jacques. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical practitioner.
The victim was later identified as 64-year-old Augustin Bertin of St. Philip, Fond St. Jacques, Soufrière.
Investigations into this incident are ongoing, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled for a later date.
