WINNERS TV continues to bring the best of sports to St. Lucia with the exclusive live broadcast of the World Athletics Championships Budapest23 from August 19th to August 27th, 2023.
This year St. Lucia will be represented at the World Athletics Championships by the reigning track queen, Julien Alfred, and 400m champion, Michael Joseph.
Alfred who recently turned pro, with a gold medal in her first 100m outing and a silver in her first 200 pro race, will run against one of the most competitive fields in women’s 100m race history. Fresh off her CAC Games 100m gold medal, Alfred will line up against perennial favorite, Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce, Great Britain’s Dina Asher Smith, Ivory Coast’s Marie-Josee’ Taloe, USA’s Sha’Carri Richardson, and Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson.
Also representing St. Lucia is Kansas Jayhawk and CAC Games 400m silver medalist, Michael Joseph. At only 20 years of age, Joseph is a young sprinter with an accomplished NCAA career, who is determined to establish a stellar track and field legacy. On a journey which has brought him from Gros Islet through Jamaica to Kansas and now Budapest, Michael knows that hard work brings results.

The World Athletics Championships Budapest23 will bring together the best track and field athletes in the world for 9 days, in a celebration of human potential and athletic achievement, and will feature more than 2000 athletes from more than 200 nations competing for a place at the podium. This year’s tournament marks a defining moment for St. Lucia with a real chance for global recognition in the realm of track and field.
