Stabbing Incident Results in Death of ‘Board Man’

A young Castries man is the latest homicide victim on the island as a result of an early morning stabbing incident which occurred at Lower Darling Road, Monday, on the Gros Islet bus stand.

Dead is Chessie Sealy, 30, of Conway, Castries.

Law enforcement officers have detained a male suspect in connection with the incident.

Police reported that at about 6: 44 a.m. on the day, officers went to the scene of the crime where they ascertained that two individuals had been involved in a physical altercation. As a result of the brawl, one man sustained an injury.

The victim was transported to the OKEU hospital via a private vehicle.

Police state initial investigations reveal that the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.

According to eyewitness accounts, Sealy was performing the temporary task as a “Board Man”, when the two men got into a dispute. It is reported that Sealy slapped a Gros Islet minibus driver, and the driver, in turn, went to his vehicle and returned with a knife and stabbed Sealy.

Meanwhile, police have charged a Marigot man for the murder of Prentice St Luce, 43, who passed away due to injuries sustained on August, 3. The incident occurred at Coolie Town, Marigot, and reports state that the victim suffered severe harm.

St Luce was transferred to the OKEU hospital for treatment and was subsequently discharged on August, 4.

On August 5, at approximately 3:59 p.m., Marigot police received a report about an unconscious male in Coolie Town, Marigot.

A postmortem examination revealed that St Luce’s cause of death was peritonitis resulting from a perforation in the small intestine caused by blunt force trauma.

On August 9, Junior Henry was apprehended as a suspect in St Luce’s demise.

He was officially charged with murder on August 11 and is currently held at the Bordelais Correctional Facility.

Saint Lucia has recorded 54 homicides for the year including two police killings.
