Body Found at Cap Estate Identified

A report of a missing person was made of Omar Defrietas on Thursday January 5, 2023. On Tuesday April 1, 2023 a motorcar, which was later revealed to be that of Omar Defrietas was recovered in a pond at Cap Estate, Gros Islet.  Skeletal remains were discovered in the motorcar. On Friday April 19, 2023 about 11:30 a.m. samples for toxicological testing were sent for DNA analysis.

Officers of the Major Crimes Unit received confirmation on the identity of the body found in a car in a pond at Cap Estate, Gros Islet, on April 1, 2023. The body was identified as that of Omar Defrietas.

Joint Police Operation in the Northern Division

ON Thursday, June 8, 2023 about 3:00 a.m. officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department, Vulnerable Persons Team, Bicycle Patrol Unit and the Special Services Unit conducted an operation in the Barre Denis, Odsan and Ciceron areas.

During the conduct of the operation a search warrant was executed on the premises of Jesse Charles at Barre Denis. One Taurus 9mm firearm, one magazine containing six rounds of ammunition, along with one round of .357 ammunition were recovered.

Jesse Charles was subsequently arrested and charged for the offence of Possession of Firearm and Possession of  Ammunition. He was escorted to the First District Court where he pleaded guilty to the offences. He was remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility to await sentencing.

Joint Police Operation In The Northern Division

Officers also executed a Search Warrant on the premises of Joharius Johannes of Morne D’Or, Odsan, who goes by the aliases of Joe Grind and Junior Dorville. Nothing of evidential value was found. Joharius Johannes was arrested in relation to a report of an assault with a firearm and a Red Notice from INTERPOL in relation to the offence of murder on the island of Martinque. He was escorted to the First District Court, where he was remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility.

Escaping Lawful Custody

On Wednesday June 14, 2023 Joharius Johannes escaped Lawful Custody from the Babonneau Police Station after attending Court via Zoom. He was pursued but was not recaptured and remains at large.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force urges anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Joharius Johannes is asked to contact the nearest police station or Babonneau Police Station at 456-4120,456-4122 or the CRIME Hotline at 555 for anonymous reporting.

On Friday, June 9, 2023, about 5:30 a.m. officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department, Castries, Bicycle Patrol Unit and the Special Services Unit conducted a search of a shop and its surroundings. During a search of a derelict vehicle parked across the shop, officers recovered one RG-14 .22 Revolver. No one was arrested after the recovery.

Homicide at Marigot

On Wednesday June, 14, 2023 about 1:30 p.m. officers at the Marigot Police Station responded to a report of a lifeless male body in the community. Officers, on arrival at the scene, observed the body of a male with multiple gunshot wounds.

The male was later identified as 38-year-old Ernie Byron of Jacmel. He was pronounced dead on the scene by a medical practitioner. The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force wishes to urge anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the nearest police station or the Marigot Police Station at 456-3895 or the Crime Hotline at 555 for anonymous reporting.

Homicide in La Pointe, Dennery

On Saturday, June 10, 2023, about 3:40 a.m. officers attached to the Dennery Police Station responded to a report of a stabbing at La Pointe. The Officers, on arrival, observed one female with multiple stab wounds on her body.

The female was later identified as Bonita James 33- years-old of the same area. She was conveyed to the St. Jude Hospital via ambulance, where she was later pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.

A male is presently in custody in relation to this incident. A post mortem examination is scheduled for a later date.

On Monday, June 12, 2023 Leonus Pelage of La Pointe, Dennery who was formally charged for causing the death of James. Pelage was escorted to the Second District Court for the purpose of a bail hearing. He is currently at the Bordelias Correctional Facility awaiting a bail hearing.

Recovery of Controlled Drugs, Firearm and Ammunition at Piaye, Laborie

On Friday, June 9, 2023, about 5:00 a.m., officers attached to the Drug Squad, Vieux Fort executed a Search Warrant on the premises of Aaron Eder Eugene at Piaye, Laborie. During the execution of the Search Warrant a quantity of Controlled Drugs, one Air Pistol and five Pellets were recovered.

Aaron Eder Eugene of Piaye, Laborie was arrested and charged with the following offences:

1) Possession of Controlled Drugs

2) Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply

3) Possession of Firearm

4) Possession of Ammunition.

Aaron Eder Eugene was escorted to the Second District Court and was remanded at the Bordelais Correctional Facility
