More Goals in SLFA President’s Cup Challenge

Action in the SLFA Inc. President Cup continued with matches on Thursday with more exciting results.

At the Desruisseaux Playing Field the home team, Desruisseaux United, won comfortably over Faith United 4 – 1. Eldrick Popo netted a brace for the home side with goals in the 40th and 88th minutes, Shervon Celise 3rd minute and Davian Jetrum 6th minute.

Brad Bideau scored an own goal in the 16th minuth. for Faith United.

Black Eagles showed their fighting prowess with a spirited fight back to get past Shambala Shiloh 4-2, after being down 3-2 at half time.

Shambala took an early lead through Raheem Vassaon in the 3rd minute, but Eagles hit back with an equalizer from Anil Campbell in the 9th minute, and then Mahvy Rismay converted in the 11th minute, to inch ahead.

Shayan Lionel scored a brace in the 19th and 43rd minutes to give Shambala the lead at the interval.

But Eagles pulled through with goals from Darrel Francis in the 83rd minute, and Rismay in 90th minute, for a brace.

At the Dennery Playing Field; Big Players defeated Vanard 4-1 with goals from Ranigh Christopher in the 3rd minute of added on time in the first half, Levi Mederick 61st, Lincoln Phillip 84th and Delan Charles in the 3rd minutes of added on time.

Rick David scored for Vanard in the 21st minute.

Nyah FC defeated Agardianz 4 – 1, with goals from Oneil Alexander a brace in the 40th and 75th minutes, Ervin Alfred 29th and Kerdon Alcindor 80th minutes.

Kingson Carasco scored for Agardianz in the 14th minute.

Meanwhile, the SLFA Inc. Talent Identification Program kicks off today (Saturday 6th May) with the launch of the Western Zone at the Marigot Playing Field from 10.00 am and to 12.00 noon.

An SLFA spokesperson stated that this long term project caters to youngsters both male and female between the ages of 10 – 14 years. Saturday’s fixture will feature participants drawn from Anse La Raye, Canaries, Roseau and South Castries.

While two coaches have been assigned to each Centre, however, all the coaches involved in the island wide programme will be present on the day.

Following Saturday’s launch, the other Centers will be up and kicking, as follows:

Eastern Zone – Desruisseaux – 13th May

Southern Zone – Soufriere – 20th May and

Northern Zone – La Clery – 27th May 2023

In other updates, Saint Lucian central defender Doneal Lionel is due to join Trinbagonian club Morvant Caledonia United FC to compete in the national league football competition.

Doneal is a former Monchy United FC player.
