Vieux Fort Mouvman Ansam ‘Jazzing at 60”

This year, the Vieux Fort Mouvman Ansam group is collaborating with the Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School to celebrate with a fund-raising event themed: ‘Jazzing at 60’.

The event is due to take place on Monday May 1, starting at 2:00pm.

Vieux Fort Mouvman Ansam is a non-profit organization established in 2012. The members include Monty Maxwell, Raye Maxwell, Anthony Samuel, Carmicher Mondesir, Brenda Annerville, Marcia Louis and Allison Boriel.

The mandate of the group is to promote social and developmental programmes. The organization was also established to collaborate relationships with Government, non-Governmental and community institutions.

In the past few years, Vieux Fort Mouvman Ansam have organized various fund-raising events throughout the communities e.g. Christmas concerts, toy drives and community beautification projects in specific locations, in the form of tree planting.

For the four years before the Covid-19 pandemic they established the event ‘Jazz Finale’ which took place at the Pointe Sable Recreation Park in Vieux Fort. This was a free event with the highest quality of music from national artistes.

This year’s concert will take place on the grounds of the VFCSS with a stellar line up of various genres of music. Taking to the stage will be the likes of School Groups and a School Band, Schreffler Maxwell, Jessey Leonce, Avot Sevis, Kalbas – featuring the best of musicians from the South, Logix Band, Papa Vader, Barbara Cadet and a special highlighted feature of the group ‘Frappe’ (Pan in Neck).

[Tickets for this fund-raising activity will be sold for $35 and children under 5 years old FREE Admission. Tickets are available at The Cell – V/Fort and Soufriere, St. Lucia’s Teachers Cooperative upstairs the Shopping Plaza, New Dock Rd., Niles Hideaway, Aidees Wholesale – Clarke St. V/Fort, the VFCSS Office and all staff members and the members of Vieux Fort Mouvman Ansam] .

All proceeds raised from Gate receipts will go to the VFCSS for special projects to be implemented in 2023.
