Saint Lucian sports administrator Leslie Collymore has been selected to serve on the executive of the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC), in the capacity of the CBC’s 1st Vice President.
Another Saint Lucian national, Ms. Velica Augustin is the new secretary.
The 23-member Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC), the regional governing body under the auspices of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), held its elective assembly on Monday, February 13, in Miami, Florida, USA.
Seven executive members, whose terms of office expire in May 2023 were returned.
At Large Members are Conrad Issa (Suriname) and Marland Nattie (Jamaica). Kenneth Vrolijk from Aruba was elected Treasurer.
Other executive members are;
2nd Vice President – Junior Paez of the Dominican Republic, 3rd – Vice President is Freddie Brown from the Bahamas.
Collymore, the newly-elected 1st Vice President will manage the Marketing and Finance portfolio; in the absence of an elected President, he will serve as interim President for one year.
Collymore was also installed as the 2nd Vice President of the Central American and Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CONCENCABA) under the presidency of Patrick Haynes, the first Guyanese national to head CONCENCABA.
The CBC consists of 23 members who are directly affiliated with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) through FIBA Americas.
CBC’s membership consists of the national basketball federations of those countries as agreed/assigned by FIBA.
The member countries are Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, The Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Puerto Rico, St Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks & Caicos, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
