Teams set for Inter-Schools Football Finals

The stage is set for the grand final of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Under-19 Football competition, between Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School (SCSS) and the St. Lucia Sports Academy (SLSA) to be played on Monday, 5th December.

The second semi-final was completed, this week, as SLSA beat St Mary’s College (SMC) 2 – 1, to qualify for the finals.

The game lived up to all the hype and expectations, and despite the damp conditions, it was a hard fought battle. Opposing sides displayed some good attacking and counter attacking skills, but missed out on some good goal scoring chances.

SLSA got their goals from Kyle Jn. Baptiste and Michael Justine in the 45th and 67th min respectively; while Makaay Emile scored for SMC in the 54th min.

SCSS got past Babonneau Secondary School in the other semifinal encounter.

In the meantime, the semifinals of the Inter- Schools Boys Under-15 competition was scheduled for Friday, (December, 2).

The matchup were as follows:

St. Mary’s College vs. Micoud Secondary – SAB Playing Field, and  St. Lucia Sports Academy vs. Soufriere Comprehensive – Soufriere Mini Stadium.

Meanwhile, the St. Lucia Football Association [SLFA] Inc. has been requested to select ten of the most talented youth players to participate in the 5th Annual Future Stars Combine Scouting Exhibition, through the Future Stars – a Football Scouting organisation out of Canada. The event is scheduled to be held from December 19 to 21.

The Exhibition will allow the players to showcase their ability and talents in front of the most prominent NCAA D1, D2, NAIA, NJCAA, OUA, OCAA, and MLS academy programs. There will also be MLS, USL, CPL, and professional agents in attendance who would be selecting individual players to be considered professional and semiprofessional levels.

It also affords players an opportunity to gain full scholarships in pursuant of higher education to some of the most prominent Colleges and Universities in Europe, Canada and the United States of America.

Over the last five years,  the Future Star Sports has recruited and sent more than 100 athletes to universities in the USA on full scholarship,  and have placed more than 200 athletes in similar positions in Canada.

Subsequently, after meeting with parents to apprise them of the developments, the SLFA Inc. have selected the following players to participate in the exhibition, namely;

BOYS – DANTE FITZ – ROSEAU, SHAQUAN NELSON, DANEO CAROO, TAYE PETER

GROS ISLET – LYNDON CONSTANTINE, BAGGIO EDWARD, THIERRY MORILLE,

ELIJAH JOSEPH – DENNERY, HOSEA MATHURIN – VIEUX FORT

GIRLS – ARNIKA LOUIS – CASTRIES, FREEGEANE JOSEPH – VIEUX FORT- KERSHEEMA INCE, HARMONIE JONES- CANARIES, ABRINA AVRIL – MABOUYA VALLEY.

According to an SLFA spokesperson, the SLFA Inc. will cover the airline fares to and from Canada, and assume responsibility for the players’ accommodation while in Canada and also cover the cost of all VISA Fees.
