There are many things happening in our world today that are astonishing and sometimes unbelievable, but everything that happens, happens for a reason. In many instances, the reasoning may be to unmask the deception that is about to be revealed, or simply to expose what the individual or group is capable of doing. It is said that actions speak louder than words. When any negative action is taken, the perpetrators will have to abide by the consequences. That’s the reality.
In arriving at decisions, it is necessary for every detail to be thought out properly, slept on, think and rethink what the consequences can be as a result of your action. There needs to be much thought about the matter before taking action. When it comes to making decisions on behalf of others, always ask the question, if I were at the receiving end of this decision would I have considered it fair to all concerned? Back to the old saying – do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Is empathy a part of your thought process? Can you bring yourself to feel what the person on whose behalf you are making the decision is feeling? Let your conscience be your guide.
This brings me to the type of leadership practice that is executed in our world today. Bullying has become the new leadership style, giving no consideration to others. At this moment President Putin is demonstrating the qualities of a ruthless and bullying leader. He will do anything to achieve his objective to grab land from Ukraine without any thought as to the implications. His actions against Ukraine have disadvantaged many nations and affected the world’s economies. These are the examples that the leaders in Russia who represent Communism in all its glory are supportive of, regardless of what the rest of the world feels.
There is evidence that President Putin would have been better placed, had President Trump been in office. If there was a war, it would have been swiftly dealt with due to a lack of arms and financial support from the United States of America. However, with President Biden’s approach in dealing with NATO and other global institutions, President Volodymyr Zelensky and the citizens of Ukraine continue to put up a fight, even to the point of regaining land that was taken over by Russia. It is nothing short of a miracle how Ukraine is standing up to Russia. This is very much a case of David and Goliath.
The upcoming midterm, just days away is a test for Americans to decide whether they will continue to have Democracy or get on a path to Dictatorship with the possibility of electing a Dictator in 2024. If the Democrats are to preserve Democracy, it is necessary for them to take the House and Senate in 2022, and the Presidency in 2024. Many are doubtful that with Trump’s MAGA followers being elected to office, along with the voting legislations recently passed in various States, it will be difficult for the Democrats to navigate a perfect win of both House and Senate. It surprises me that in spite of all the positive achievements of the Biden Administration, the Republicans are very much in play for both Houses. It is also interesting to note that President Biden is stuck at 45% approval rating with 54% disapproval.
The House Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol held its hearing on Thursday, October 13, 2022. The panel had postponed a public hearing two weeks ago because of Hurricane Ian. An outcome to the overall investigation is imminent.
Let us all revisit our behaviour as it relates to COVID19 and get back to the Protocols as needed, ever judging the situation and act as necessary in our own best interest. Keep washing your hands, use sanitisers when at your desk or away from a convenient place to wash your hands. Always keep your mask with you. Do not ignore the fact that COVID 19 and its variants are still around. Stay Safe and Stay Alive. Blessings!
