PRESS RELEASE — On August 23rd, 2022, the M&C Group of Companies Caring In Action team conducted an island-wide supply drive. Volunteers distributed food supplies and back-to-school essentials to communities in Vieux Fort, Babonneau, Micoud, Dennery, Laborie, Choiseul, Canaries, and Anse La Raye.
“The economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated food insecurity for so many vulnerable families across Saint Lucia. During an incredibly consequential time, M&C Group of Companies felt it was important to provide assistance. We would like to thank Caribbean Grains and Blue Water for their donation and a special thank you to all our volunteers.” said Mrs. Vernessa Chance, Group Marketing Manager.
Back-to-School Donation
For some families, the new school year brings anxiety and stress over the looming costs associated with sending a child or children back to school. For many students from low-income families, having the necessary supplies at the beginning of the school year helps to remove barriers to learning. The M&C Caring In Action volunteer team is committed to assisting the youth in our communities to start the year off right.
This year a total of 43 children received backpacks, note and exercise books, rulers, pens, calculators, etc.
Food Supplies
With the high cost of basic food necessities and the aftermath of the pandemic, less fortunate individuals can no longer afford essentials due to the high cost of supplies. The M&C Caring In Action Volunteer team went above and beyond to ensure they secured food items despite shortages. Each family Island-wide received food supplies tailored to their current needs, including toiletries and baby items. The families who received these items were grateful and expressed appreciation.
