SLFA League Competitions Heat Up

After three rounds of competition in the Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Premier League competition, defending champions Platinum FC is at the top of the table; while Bays FC is on top in the Div. II zone.

B 1 FC got past Uptown Rebels 4 – 3 in an interesting encounter as the SLFA Premier League competition continued this week.

Though Uptown Rebels took an early lead with Jason Isidore converting in the 14th minute, Jarvis Joseph hit back with the equalizer for B1 FC minutes later in the 17th minute.

B1 FC surged ahead with two quick goals from Lamar George in the 23rd and Andrus Remy in the 25th minute to put their opponents under pressure.

Uptown replied with a goal from Donovan Jn. Baptiste in the 69th minute, but Jordon St. Ange’s 73rd min. tilted the balance further in favor of B1FC. A late goal from Rai Mariatte in the 90th min. was not enough to prevent Uptown from going down in defeat.

El Ninos left no stone unturned as they disposed of GMC 5 – 2. Marvy Rismay scored a hat trick with goals in the 59th, 62nd, and 86th min, after Steve Henry had given his team an early 8th-minute goal. Dwight Preudhomme added another in the 38th min. to put the issue beyond GMC’s reach.

GMC converted through Selwyn Boyce’s 25th strike and an own goal by Chadrick Flavius in the 2nd min added-on time.

After the third round of matches in the ongoing SLFA Inc. competitions, the standings are as follows:

Premier Division:

Platinum FC – 6 pts.

El Ninos – 4 pts.

Northern United – 4 pts.

Monchy FC – 3 pts.

B 1 FC – 3 pts.

Uptown Rebels – 3 pts.

Tev Lawrence of Monchy FC is the leading goal scorer with five (5), followed by Marvy Rismay of El Ninos with four (4), and Kurt Frederick – Platinum FC, Donavan Jn. Baptiste -Uptown Rebels and Sherwin Simon – Northern United with three (3) each.

Division II:

Bays FC – 6 pts.

Knights FC – 6 pts.

Black Panthers – 5 pts.

Piton Travel Young Stars – 4 pts.

New Generation – 4 pts.

1987 All-Stars – 3 pts.

On Wednesday, two matches were played in the SLFA’s Inc. Division II Football competition, at the Desruisseaux Playing Field (DPF).

1987 All-Stars had a field day coming from one goal down to defeat Togetherness Youth 6 – 1. Mc Arthur Louis scored a hat trick with goals in the 25th, 26th, and 67th min, Anthony Cadette 22nd, Erickson Reid 52nd, and Djal Augustin 73rd min.

Peter Alfred had earlier opened the scoring for Togetherness Youth in the 10th min.

New Generation with a goal by Nathan Weekes in the 53rd min drew with Black Panthers whose goal was scored by Arthurton Griffith in the 79th min.

The leading goal scorers in the SLFA Div. II league are Mc. Arthur Louis of 1987 All-Stars and Nick Longville of Bays FC with four (4) each, followed by Ridel Stanislaus and Jamie Prospere Piton Travel Young Stars, Jeremie Abraham New Generation with two (2) each.

In the meantime, the Choiseul Football League’s Promotional Cup 2022, is scheduled to kick off at the La Fargue Playing Field on July, 12.

Five teams will be participating in two Groups namely, Group A – Ebony Sports Club, Somos Jouvenes FC, and Pein 53 FC. Group B comprises Black Eagles FC and Streetballers FC.

In Group A the competition is a single round-robin format; while Group B will feature a double round-robin with the winners going through to the finals. Matches will be played on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 6.00 pm.
