Local stars, Invader and Shemmy J, announce their new collaboration just in time for the upcoming carnival season. The release of the 2022 “Walk and Wine” remix was met with overwhelming support from the calypso and carnival community as well as local brand, ICY.
Ignatius Tisin, more popularly known by his stage names, Invader and Papa Vader, has been singing calypso and local carnival music for over 30 years. His 34-year-old hit song, “Walk and Wine” was arguably one of his greatest hits, topping the charts of radio stations in St. Lucia, the Caribbean and United States for consecutive weeks. This year, with the support of ICY, the veteran singer has released a 2022 remix of Walk and Wine just in time for the upcoming carnival season. Papa Vada recalls how he felt when the song was first released.
The Invader has teamed up with budding and aspiring singer and songwriter, Shemmy Johannes, more widely known as Shemmy J, to give a modern take on the 34-year-old hit song. According to the veteran, the partnership between himself and Shemmy J was a no-brainer.
The producer of the 2022 Walk and Wine Remix, Fitzgerald Boston, says it was a lot of fun being able to bring both worlds together on a song that first debuted in 1988, the year he was born.
ICY is beyond proud to have spearheaded this initiative and supports all generations of local talent. ICY celebrates its 50 year milestone this year, with the unveiling of a new brand look, marketing campaign, brand mission of supporting local talent and creatives, across the generations. “We recognize that without the contributions of our very talented and groundbreaking creatives, our culture and history would not exist today. We are colourful people in heart and mind, we must embrace this,” said Sharlene Jn.Baptiste, Category Manager for Carbonated Soft Drinks at Heineken Saint Lucia.
