TeamRUBIS recently donated $5600 towards the Smart Television Project being introduced at the Fond St. Jacques Primary School to furnish each of the ten classrooms with a television. The units will be used to assist with the provision of enhanced technological resources to better teach the students, especially where they need access to online learning and to facilitate the Academic Recovery Programme for students who have fallen below their grade level.

Chriselda Norbal, Account Executive, RUBIS explained that the opportunity to partner with the school on this project was taken as it facilitated a better quality of student learning. She said, “In today’s environment it is necessary to support students who are without access to either proper devices or internet services and we hope these monitors will go a long way in helping both the students and educators of the school to meet their learning objectives.”

Virgil Mangaroo, Principal of Fond St. Jacques Primary School expressed gratitude to RUBIS for their timely donation and continued support in bringing the media to the classroom. She confirmed, “The COVID-19 environment has certainly impacted our students and community and we are hoping that with this ICT integration, we can bridge some of the gaps in instruction which have been created and to make learning more fun, effective and efficient.“

The project will benefit all 190 students at the school in the areas of academics, technology, extracurricular activities and life skills. At the beginning of the pandemic, RUBIS donated laptops and tablets to St Lucian students to assist with online learning.
