Swift action by an elderly woman to call her daughter and scream for help as an intruder entered her house was enough to foil an attempted robbery early this morning.
Shortly after 4 a.m., a young male believed to be in his late teens forcefully gained access into the home of the 70-year-old who lived alone in San Souci.
Neighbours quickly came to aid the cries for help which prompted the thief to barricade himself inside of the house after realizing his robbery attempt had failed.
The intruder was eventually apprehended by neighbours who patiently awaited the arrival of the police.
The man is now in custody awaiting charges.
