A PRISON officer was gunned down in what many are calling a contract killing ordered from behind prison walls.
Nigel Jones was ambushed by gunmen who emerged from a motor car on a busy highway intersection in High Street, Siparia, Trinidad.
According to local reports Jones, together with his three-year-old daughter were standing on High Street when a silver Mazda 323 motor vehicle pulled up alongside him with the occupants in the vehicle opening fire and fatally wounding the prison officer.
His three-year-old daughter was physically uninjured however, CCTV cameras that caught the morbid ordeal, pictured her frantically running away from her slain father. Eventually, someone in the vicinity was able to hold on to and comfort her as the car was seen speeding off.
This is the second prison officer murdered in Trinidad in less than a week. Prison Officer II Trevor Serrette was gunned down at a fruit stall in Valencia last Friday afternoon.
Both Jones and Serrette were assigned to duties at the Wayne Jackson Building at the Maximum Security Building in Arouca.
