MOU Signing Between The UWI, IDB Today

Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, Vice-Chancellor of The University of the West Indies (The UWI) and Mauricio Claver-Carone, President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will today meet at The UWI Regional Headquarters in Jamaica to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to deepen collaborations between the two institutions.

The signing of the MOU is a highlight of President Claver-Carone’s first-ever mission to the Caribbean.

This UWI, IDB agreement builds upon a robust partnership between the organisations that has facilitated knowledge exchange and regional public dialogue on some key areas of development in the Caribbean; these include water and sanitation, gender, science, technology, and innovation. It will deepen cooperation in areas linked to the IDB’s Vision 2025 agenda aimed at stimulating recovery and economic growth in the region as well as The UWI’s Triple A Strategic Plan focused on revitalising Caribbean development.
