Deadly weekend highlighted by two deaths, one stabbing, and multiple vehicular accidents

Separate vehicular accidents over the weekend have claimed the lives of two males.

One cyclist sustained fatal injuries after a vehicle collided with him, pinning him between the vehicle and a concrete pillar in Grand Rivière, Gros Islet, on Sunday, 19th December 2021.

Upon arrival by EMS, the victim, Fifty-four-year-old, Bryan Gustave of Monier, displayed no vital signs, and a physician pronounced him dead at the scene.

In a separate incident, a report of a collision involving a scooter and a pick-up truck along the Gros Islet Highway was made to emergency personnel at approximately 6:25 p.m. on Sunday, 19th December 2021.

Fernando James, Station Officer and EMS Manager for Saint Lucia Fire Service reported that Rescue and EMS were on the scene of the horrific accident where the rider was found unresponsive with serious and fatal injuries.

The rider, identified as Kenny Sealy, a thirty-one-year-old resident of Conway, Castries was pronounced dead by a physician.

The two fatalities bring the total number of road fatalities for the year to seventeen (17).

At approximately 11:34 am on that same Sunday, a scooter ridden by one male was involved in a collision with a heavy-duty dump truck.

The incident occurred along the Bexon Highway and resulted in the rider sustaining several severe injures to the body. He was rapidly transported to the OKEU Hospital by emergency officers from the Saint Lucia Fire Service Headquarters.

In the wee hours of Sunday morning (December 19th) police were alerted to the La Clery community where a collision between a scooter and a motor car had occurred.

The rider of the scooter sustained severe injuries about his body and after assessment and treatment by the emergency crew, was transported to the OKEU Hospital.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, December 18th, Gros Islet Fire Service emergency officers responded to a physical altercation in the community.

One adult male reportedly sustained a stab wound to his abdomen. He was quickly assessed and treated and subsequently transported to the OKEU hospital.
