1st National Bank Captures ECCU Bank of the Year Awards

The 1st National Bank St. Lucia Limited captured two out of four awards that were up for grabs in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) Bank of the Year Awards for 2021.  Nine banks within the ECCU region participated in the event where St. Lucia’s first indigenous bank was recognized for Bank of the Year in the following categories: Technological innovation and Pandemic and Banking.  This is the third award for the Bank having been named Bank of the Year St. Lucia 2021 by the Banker Magazine of London.

In a short ceremony held on Thursday December 16th, 2021, the Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) Mr. Timothy Antoine, thanked the commercial banks for their role in assisting the people of the region in facilitating the loan repayment programme which at its maximum, impacted approximately 26,000 loans.

Managing Director (Ag) of 1st National Bank Ms. Aurea Lafeuillee in her acceptance speech expressed her sincere thanks and appreciation on behalf of the Board of Directors to the former Managing Director Mr. Johnathan Johannes for his sterling leadership.  She also showered praise on management and staff for their continued dedication and hard work in ensuring that the Bank continues to serve its valued customers diligently, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Ms. Lafeuillee also commended the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and its panel of judges for recognizing the efforts and strides that the Bank continues to make as it seeks to develop its people and contribute meaningfully to the financial sector in St. Lucia.

This is a perfect way to close a challenging year with two regional awards from ECCB and one international award from the Banker magazine in London.  We take the opportunity to thank our customers for their continued loyalty and confidence in the Bank.
