The National Workers Union (NWU) on Wednesday requested an urgent meet-ing with Minister of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs, Hon. Moses Jn. Baptiste.
This request comes on the heels of a general meeting held with Community Health Aides at UNITY HOUSE, home of the National Workers Union in Sans Souci, Castries where many unpleasant situations were highlighted including: Discrimination experienced by them as front line workers, exposure to risks as it pertains to their overall engagement with patients, inadequate protection while performing their responsibilities, inadequacy of the allowances being paid and deprivation from access to the benefit of the waiver of customs duties upon acquisition of a vehicle.
Traditionally the National Workers Union has met with the hierarchy of the Ministry of Health in quarterly meetings and hopes that Jn Baptiste will facili-tate the continuation of this process.
The NWU says it will continue to provide a forum for consultation and ame-lioration of industrial matters affecting these key health sector employees.
