The Covid-19 numbers continue to soar in Martinique as 594 new cases were detected this week on the island.
Meynard University Hospital has constantly indicated its concern about the worrying influx of the number of patients with severe forms of the disease. There are 594 new cases from March 22 to 28, 2021 against 401 cases last week. 426 cases are English variants, and 4 cases are South African or Brazilian variants.
The positivity rate is 8.2% against 7.8% the previous week despite a notable increase in the number of tests. The number of deaths also increased with 51 people having died.
On Tuesday, March 30, 19 people were in intensive care out of 61 patients hospitalized for COVID-19. These figures are doubled compared to the previous week.
