Saint Lucia Records Four New Cases of COVID-19

The Ministry of Health and Wellness late Monday March 29, 2021 received confirmation of 4 new cases of COVID-19 from the Ezra Long Laboratory. These results are from a batch of 60 samples taken on March 27, 2021 and March 28, 2021. These samples were processed on March 28, 2021.

The four newly diagnosed individuals were seen at various community respiratory clinics where they were assessed and tested for COVID-19. In keeping with the COVID-19 testing protocol, they were each placed in home quarantine by healthcare practitioners while awaiting the return of their COVID-19 test results. Arrangements have been made to place these individuals in isolation. The contact tracing for these new cases is currently underway.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 19 individuals diagnosed with COVID- 19. This brings the total number of active cases currently recorded in country to date to 118. At present, two of the active cases require critical care at the Respiratory Hospital. The new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 4228.

As of Monday March 29, 2021 a total of 22, 011 individuals have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Saint Lucia. The public is reminded that the COVID-19 vaccination drive for individuals in Phases 1A and 1B continues this week. Everyone interested in getting vaccinated are encouraged to pre-register ahead of time via the online platform https://hmi.govt.lc/ or at the Community Wellness Centre nearest to you.
