Saint Lucia Records 12 New Cases of COVID-19, 14 Recoveries, 1 Death

The Ministry of Health and Wellness on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 received confirmation from the Ezra Long Laboratory of 12 new cases of COVID-19 from a batch of 188 samples. The samples were taken during the period March 21 to March 23, 2021 and were processed on March 23, 2021.

The twelve individuals were seen at various community respiratory clinics where they were assessed and tested for COVID-19. In keeping with the COVID-19 testing protocol, these individuals were placed in home quarantine by healthcare practitioners while awaiting the return of their COVID-19 test results. Arrangements have been made to place these newly diagnosed cases in isolation. The contact tracing for these new cases is currently underway.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 14 individuals diagnosed with COVID- 19 bringing the total number of active cases currently recorded in country to date to 121.

At present, two of the active cases require critical care at the Respiratory Hospital. The new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 4161.

The Ministry of Health also reported one COVID-19 related death bringing the total number of deaths in country to date to 58. Death #58 is a 54 year old female from the Babonneau district with underlying medical illnesses who passed away while in care.
