THE Saint Lucia National Students Council (SLNSC) hosted its Annual General Assembly from Thursday December 10th 2020 to Friday December 11th 2020, to elect a new Executive for the period 2020-2021. In attendance were student council representatives from schools across Saint Lucia.
The General Assembly was presided over by an Electoral Committee composed of representatives from the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports and the Saint Lucia National Youth Council.
With the COVID-19 protocols making it impossible to gather physically, the General Assembly was hosted virtually for the first time, making it easier for student leaders to participate. Student representatives got the opportunity to provide feedback on the progress of student development at their respective schools and to tackle the way forward for the SLNSC. They were also given the opportunity to speak with and understand the vision that the candidates vying for positions on the national executive had.
This discourse followed the NSC Presidential Debate which took place virtually on Wednesday December 9th, 2020.
The election of the new Executive took place on Friday December 11th 2020. The composition of the Executive for the period 2020-2021 is as follows.
