NWU Annual Congress Of Delegates Slated For Sunday

THE National Workers Union (NWU) will be holding its 2020 Annual Congress of Delegates on Sunday November 15, 2020. This year the NWU’s Congress will be undertaken without the traditional formal Open Session which is characteristic of the occasion.

In order to conform to the required protocols for the current Coronavirus COVID-19 environment which need strict adherence, the National Workers Union will use three locations as bases for this year’s Congress: Kimatrai Hotel in Vieux Fort and St. Lucia Employers Federation and UNITY HOUSE in Castries.

Delegates to the 2020 NWU Annual Congress of Delegates will be welcomed in a brief address by Secretary General, Johann Harewood. Father Albert Aaron Smith, Assistant Parish Priest of the Church of the Assumption in Soufriere will share some spiritual guidance and upliftment with the delegates. The Closed Session will receive Financial Statements and Portfolio Reports. A Central Committee will be elected to administer the union’s affairs for the 2020/2021 period.

Delegates will also vote on Resolutions, among them being one that would support the soft launch of the John Burke King Industrial Academy and the other, the Saint Lucia Credit Union Workers Council.

The Congress begins at 8:30 a.m.
