Nurses Benefit from Make It Happen Foundation’s Tea and Testimony

Our local nurses are receiving support from the Make It Happen Foundation as the organization continues to stand out as a charity championing the causes of our frontliners.

With International Nurses Day marked on May 12, the donation is quite timely and the nurses, represented by Nurses Association President Alicia Baptiste, are truly grateful for the assistance.

The substantial financial contribution to the Saint Lucia Nurses Association stems from the proceeds of the sold-out all-pink International Women’s Day Event “Tea and Testimony”-which was held on March 8th 2020.

In a handing over ceremony on Thursday May 21st 2020, a cheque of twenty two thousand five hundred dollars ($22,500) was officially presented to Nurse Baptiste on behalf of the membership by Make it Happen founder Mrs. Raquel Du Boulay-Chastanet.

“I am so pleased on behalf of the Make It Happen Foundation to be able to present this monetary contribution to our nation’s nurses who are an example for all of us in hard work, patience and dedication,” Mrs. Du Boulay-Chastanet said.   “It is fortuitous that our foundation selected the Nurses Association to be the beneficiary of the funds raised as we can all see now the invaluable service that the nurses render to us on an ongoing basis and particularly during this crisis period as we all grapple with COVID-19. In fact, it was mere three days after the event when we started to feel the impact of COVID-19 in Saint Lucia.”

Nurse Baptiste expressed that the contribution will go a long way in supporting the needs of the association at this time, in particular providing support to the children of the organization’s members with educational resources and scholarships.

In 2019, the proceeds from the inaugural “Tea and Testimony” event went to the Women’s Support Centre. One year later, The Tea Party has become a major event for Women’s Day, with patrons eager to dress fashionably chic in pink while women from all backgrounds and communities bond and candidly share experiences.

The Make it Happen Foundation would like to thank all sponsors, well-wishers and patrons for their continued support and notes the invaluable contribution they make to the mission and vision of the charity and their ability to uplift and change the lives of their beneficiaries.
