The Covid-19 virus has taken the world by storm and is having a severe impact on countries, economies, companies and lives across the region. The pandemic is not a natural disaster such as hurricanes or earthquakes, with which the region is familiar. Nevertheless, the team at Massy United Insurance a leading regional general insurer, has been taking steps to respond, by offering some respite to policyholders from the effects of this catastrophe.
The company continues to work with its clients across the Caribbean region to provide flexible payment plans as well as to review adjustments that can be made operationally to benefit customers. Most offices across the region had to close in adherence to government restrictions aimed at reducing the spread of the virus. However, staff and agents across the region continue to work remotely to ensure that customers can make their payments, obtain the necessary cover and receive payment for claims submitted.
Chief Executive Officer Randy Graham recently announced new initiatives targeted at enabling customers to keep their insurance protection in place, especially with the onset of the hurricane season approaching. The company will waive interest on home and motor insurance premium instalments for a period of six months, for qualifying customers. Another initiative will allow eligible policyholders with new or renewed motor policies taken out during the curfew months, to benefit from some forbearance with their premium payments. The availability of these relief measures will be based on what local insurance regulations will permit.
“These are unprecedented times. We know that our customers are facing a lot of disruption and uncertainty right now, and our dedicated staff and partners continue to work together to address the challenges that our customers are facing. We encourage customers to contact us so that we can find the best solutions which reflect their changing situation,” stated Graham.
The executive also praised the emergency services workers across the region. “For you champions working on the frontline to keep us safe, we at Massy United salute you and will reduce your accident deductibles as you move around to protect us all during this pandemic,” he said.
