The Third Alternative Will Be

People who accuse me of being a dictator or wanting to impose my values on others surely do not understand the independent model. This can’t happen under the independent model. Sometimes the things I say here in these opinion pieces rub people the wrong way. So be it. I am not going to say things here just to please everybody. What kind of leadership is that? The one thing you can be sure of is that I will try to be as honest as I possibly can. Some people are disrespectful in their comments but so be it. My shoulders are broad enough. For the people who have sought to engage me on a one-on-one basis; thanks. Sadly you are few in number. For those who have gone to do their research on consensus government, well done. Only you have not gotten back to me as yet. You were quick with your criticisms, be quick otherwise as well.

Elections are about two years away and I am hearing the clarion call for something different, something new, something fresh but as I say, I am only one person. I will do all that I possible can but now is also the time for me to stop being the only voice in the wilderness. I have vowed to build a third force for the next elections and believe me I am duly committed to that. The one thing though is that I have to keep this as authentic as possible. A lot of people come into what is happening and try to make it theirs. For example I have shared the independent model with some and they thought that all the candidates should be Christians.  Not going to happen! Others believe that we have to build a coalition. There are a few fundamentals that have to be preserved from the beginning or the independent model will cease to be that. There is room for compromise, just not on the fundamentals.

The sad thing is that Saint Lucians, do not understand the independent model and the sadder thing is that they do not care too but does that mean I drop shoulders and let things be. Oh no. This quest is beyond me and some people with whom I have shared the idea think so.

It is what Saint Lucia needs but in the same breath they tell me it will never happen. Now, that right there is inspiration. Be sure that there will be more forward movement in the independent model and its establishment in the coming weeks and months. Am I going to be a candidate in the next elections? I would like to be but when the independent model is in full swing, I would be able to answer the question as, if the people want me. Of the people.For the people.By the people.
