Matches continued in the Saint Lucia Football Association North and South Zone Under 17 Football competitions.
In the Southern Zone Under 17 Football competition played on Tuesday 16th July at the Dames Playing Field with a double header in the first game Victory Eagles got the better of Venom Strikers 7 – 0 in a one sided affair.
Hermaine Kisna scored the first hat trick of the tournament in the 21st, 31st and 49th minute. He received good support from Zachary Edwin with a brace in the 78th and 81st minute and one each by Denzel Hunte in the 19th minute and Rahim Vasson in the 26th minute.
In the second game Shambala Shiloh from Vieux Fort and Black Panthers out of Soufriere played to an exciting 1 – 1 draw. Zane Frederick registered an own goal in the first minute of play to give Black Panthers a 1 – 0 lead. However in the 60th minute of play Jahlem Flavien leveled the score.
Matches continue today (Thursday 18th July) at the same venue with another double header.
From 9.30 a.m. Uptown Rebels play Stable Boys while at 12.00 p.m. Venom Strikers will come up against Shambala Shiloh.
In the Northern Zone qualifier, the much anticipated encounter between Valley Soccer Academy and GMC lived up to expectations with GMC having the better of their opponents. They drew first blood from the young enthusiastic Kerval Cenac who scored early into the first half.
It was soon 2 – 0 as Cenac found the back of the net with an uncontested free kick, just before the end of the half.
On the resumption, Valley Soccer gradually came into their own and try as they may were unable to reduce the deficit.
Once again Cenac was in the thick of things as he floated a ball across goal which found the waiting boots of Sherman Augustin who made no mistake in slotting it home to make it 3 – 0.
No further goals were scored as GMC ran away 3-0 winners.
In another game played New Generation defeated VSADC 2 – 0, both goals coming from the boots of midfielder Baggio Edward.
