Rising Stars U17 Tournament Continues on Tuesday

The third round of matches in Cricket West Indies’ (CWI) Rising Stars Under 17 Regional 50 Overs Tournament continue today (Tuesday 9th June, in Trinidad and Tobago.

Jamaica plays Trinidad and Tobago at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, while Barbados takes on Leeward Islands at Balmain-Couva and Guyana plays Windward Islands at Gilbert Park.

Matches bowl off from 9.30 a.m.

On Sunday 7th in the second round of matches, there were wins for Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados.

There were two close finishes when Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago were victorious in their games over the Windward Islands and the Leeward Islands, respectively.

Opening batsman Nicholas Lewin anchored the Jamaican innings staying until the end to see his team to victory over the Windward Islands.

At Balmain, Jamaica won the toss and elected to bowl first, and had the Windward Islands all out for 81 runs off 27.5 overs. For Windwards, Matthew and Riviere remained 23 and 19 not out respectively.

Bowling for Jamaica, Bartley 5 for 30 and English 3 for 20.

In reply, Jamaica reached 86 for the loss of six in 24.4 overs to win by four wickets. Lewin 31 not out, Wedderburn 26.

Bowling for Windwards, Charles 2 for 29 and Theodore 2 for 22.

At Gilbert Park, Leeward Islands won the toss and elected to bowl against Trinidad and Tobago, who made 91 all out off 35.4 overs. Roopchard 29, Gomez 12.

Bowling for Leewards, Willett 4 for 9 and Carmichael 4 for 18.

Trinidad then bowled out the Leewards for 85 runs off 32.3 overs, to win by six runs. Bowen –Tuckett 27, Clarke 9.

Bowling for Trinidad and Tobago, Hackett 4 for 20 and Gomez 3 for 13.

At the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Barbados won the toss and elected to bowl versus Guyana, who was restricted to 141 for the loss of 9 wickets off 50 overs.  Matthew Nandu top-scored with 71 runs for Guyana while Charles chipped in with 21.

Bowling for Barbados, Layne 4 for 33 and O’Neale 2 for 24.

Barbados then raced to 146 for three off 36 overs to win by seven wickets, with Perryman top scoring 38 not out and Leacock making 35.

Bowling for Guyana, Ramsammy 1 for 13 and Nandu 1 for 14.

On Thursday 11th – round 4, Windward Islands plays the Leeward Islands at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy; Trinidad and Tobago takes on Barbados at Balmain-Couva and Jamaica plays Guyana at Gilbert Park.

On Saturday 13, the Windward Islands will playTrinidad and Tobago at Brian Lara Cricket Academy; Leeward Islands will take on Guyana at Balmain-Couva and Barbados plays Jamaica at Gilbert Park.
