Taiwan Technical Mission in Saint Lucia and the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports on 21 May 2019 welcomed a table tennis volunteer from Taiwan.
Szu-Ju Lee is an excellent table tennis coach in Taiwan with international table tennis training and experience. She will assist the government of Saint Lucia in developing youth interest in table tennis.
Speaking at a press conference held last week, Szu-Ju Lee stated, “Table tennis is not only my long-life interest, but it is also a wonderful sport which can help develop friendships. I am going to promote table tennis with all my heart and passion on this beautiful island. My goal of this year is to encourage young students to participate in our training course to benefit their physical and mental health.”
Chief of the Taiwan Technical Mission, Mario Cheng, indicated that table tennis in St Lucia has already reached the international level. He hoped the assistance of a female table tennis coach would encourage more young females to participate in, and develop table tennis.
Szu-Ju Lee will work closely with local table tennis coach Chris Wells, with an objective of advocating the value of table tennis.
It is hoped that the initiative will strengthen the friendship and partnership between Taiwan and Saint Lucia. The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has provided multi-technology cooperation and developed various projects in Saint Lucia through the Taiwan International Cooperation Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF).
