A SAINT LUCIAN man is making a final attempt to find his family. Damon Gilbert, who resides in the United Kingdom, wrote to The VOICE Newspaper recently in a desperate attempt to find long lost loved ones. In his email tagged, ‘Last Hope of Family Search’, Damon spoke about his last trip to Saint Lucia in December 31, 2018, with his partner Sandra Leah Mitchelson.
“I am writing to you in hope that your newspaper can help me find my family,” he appealed. “My last trip was not long enough to find more information. I live in the UK and my father is from the island. We travelled to the National Archives in Vigie and got some information, sadly not enough to trace.”
Damon’s father is Joseph Gilbert known as “Coco”. According to the UK resident, “He married my mother Sylvia Rita Hadlow on 20 June 1969 at Castries Registry Office. The witnesses were my grandmother RolisiaFelicien and my uncle Arnold St. Martin.”
Damon left the island when he was six-months-old and returned to the UK after the marriage of his parents broke down.
“I know I must have some siblings or cousins who I would dearly love to meet, as I have never met my dad or even seen a photograph of him,” he said. “I don’t even know if he is still alive. I would love to hear from anyone who has any information.”
Anyone with information can reach out to Sandra Leah Mitchelson on Facebook, or email the [email protected]!
