St. Lucian Student Receives Award for Academic Excellence in Taiwan

PRESS RELEASE – ON Monday, May 14th, 2018, St. Lucian Taiwan scholarship recipients attended the annual Taiwan Scholarship and Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Farewell Party and award ceremony, where St. Lucian student Ms Zena Alcide was presented with the award for academic excellence.

The ceremony was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and in attendance were hundreds of graduating scholarship recipients, along with ambassadors from their respective countries and Ministry of Education officials.

Out of hundreds of graduating students, Ms Alcide was one of the top eight recipients of the prestigious award.

Ms Alcide attends Tamkang University in Tamsui, Taiwan where she is pursuing a degree in International Business with a Minor in Diplomacy and International Relations.

The Saint Lucian student has maintained an Above-90% average and placed in the top three in her department every semester.

Ms Alcide will graduate on June 16th at the top of her department and advance to doing her MBA, also at Tamkang University.

Asked how she felt about the award, Ms Alcide said: “The will of God never takes you where the grace of God will not protect you. That is the quote I kept believing in when I had to embark on this journey five years ago.

“Now that I have come to the end of my journey, though it wasn’t easy, I felt like if God brings you to it, He will see you through it, to which I am a living testament,”

The Embassy of Saint Lucia, ROC, Taiwan and the Association of St. Lucian Students in Taiwan extend their congratulations to MsAlcide on her outstanding performance.
