Assistant Editor of THE VOICE Stan Bishop leaves here tonight for Marrakech, Morocco to cover the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 22).
Bishop was invited by the St Lucia government to be part of the delegation to the conference at which nations of the world will continue their work on strengthening the global response to the threat of climate change, with the central focus placed on enhancing ambition, promoting implementation and providing support.
The conference in Marrakech also marks a turning point in the climate change deliberations because the landmark Paris agreement of last year will enter into force during the conference.
The invitation to Mr. Bishop will allow him to cover the conference as well as experience an important world event. He will also have the opportunity to witness first-hand St Lucia’s representation at such a high level meeting and have exclusive access to the St Lucia contingent which will be led by Prime Minister Allen Chastanet.
The Morocco conference open on Monday and ends on November 18.
Other members of the St Lucia delegation to the conference are: Minister of Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development Dr. Gale T. C. Rigobert, Minister for Economic Development, Housing, Urban Renewal, Transport and Civil Aviation Guy Joseph, Saint Lucia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Menissa Rambally, Chief Sustainable Development and Environment Officer Crispin d’Auvergne, and Sustainable Development Officer Dawn Pierre.
The COP 22 grouping also comprises former Senator and Minister of the Environment Dr. James Fletcher, who played a key role in last year’s Paris meeting, Mr. Isaac Anthony, and other representatives from the Sustainable Development department.
Stan
Congratulations beyond the limitations of any lexicon or vernacular expression.
Now if only you can extend the following open goodwill of cultural fraternito to your Moroccan counterparts :
Advocate for a cultural exchange commitment in which Morocco builds and furnishes a unique educational – religious center- as moral counterpoint to the proposed Malaysian Gambling center at COCO DAN .
The Moroccan edu-religio edifice can be located atop the MORNE. providing mature edu resources for the nearby college and public health professionals- island wide.
This Moroccan Center should be a multi use edifice:
The top and dominant architecture designed as a classic Mosque that can attract tourists from Muslim countries and provide respectful religious service for local and regional adherents.
The lower floors crammed with robotics, servers workstations, science labs etc., serve as access to high speed cutting edge technological tools and services that serve both the supportive needs of students at the Morne College and a center for Professional Development opportunities for employees at the National Hospitals and Health Centers.
Stan this is a humanitarian gesture for St Lucia.
The powers that be should understand that you are a NEUTRAL messenger of the above-
if you consider the stated objectives as non partisan.
What’s in it for Morocco?
How about a 40% discount for their citizens at all premier resorts for a decade.
No tariffs on targeted products imported into St Lucia for a Decade.
Most favoured nation status in all transactions.
Remember, journalists have the innate potential to build more meaningful cross cultural bridges than the best proactive politico.
Enjoy, the camel rides and central market
Invest in a unique handmade carpet or commission one made to your design parameters.
You deserve all the rich positive cultural experiences encountered.
