Suzanna Jolie Passes.
THE Ministry of Health and Wellness, St. Lucia Nurses Association, Sir Arthur Lewis Community College and the entire Nursing Fraternity particularly the Community Health Nursing Service Department, are mourning the loss of a great woman and treasured citizen- Suzanna Jolie.
Nurse Jolie as was affectionately known passed away on Tuesday at Victoria Hospital.
Nurse Jolie entered the nursing profession in 1972 where she gave 35 years of dedicated service to St. Lucia. She served in various capacities; first as a staff nurse at Victoria Hospital but continued climbing the career ladder with determination to become a competent community health nurse, the first Family Nurse practitioner, Assistant Principal Nursing Officer, and then Principal Nursing Officer of the Community Health Nursing Department.
She also served as Matron at the Victoria Hospital. Her dedication to higher learning and support for the new generation of nurses drove her to serve as a lecturer in the Department of Health Sciences at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College after her retirement in 2007, a position she held until her sudden passing.
Nurse Jolie was described by many as an excellent and inspirational nurse leader, stalwart, role model, mentor, educator and friend, who touched the lives of many including professionals, students, patients, clients and their families. Her leadership and vision made both the nursing profession and the department in which she spent most of her energetic years stronger.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness and the entire Nursing Fraternity offer sincerest condolences to the family and friends of our phenomenal Nurse Suzanna Jolie.
