Saint Lucia will be well represented at the twenty-second session of the Conference of the Parties (COP22) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The session is taking place in Bab Ighli, Marrakech, Morocco from November 7–18 and is part the UNFCCC. The aim of the conference is to build on last year’s Conference of Parties in Paris (COP21), focusing on action to achieve the commitments of the landmark Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
Prime Minister Allen Chastanetis currently in London for two days of meetings, following which he will attend COP22 along with a contingent which includes Minister of Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development,Dr. Gale T. C. Rigobert, Minister for Economic Development, Housing, Urban Renewal, Transport and Civil Aviation, Guy Joseph, Saint Lucia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador MenissaRambally, Chief Sustainable Development and Environment Officer, Crispin d’Auvergne, Sustainable Development Officer, Dawn Pierre. The COP 22 grouping also comprises Dr. James Fletcher, Mr. Isaac Anthony, journalist Stan Bishop and otther representatives from the Sustainable Development Department.
During the Prime Minister’s absence Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Physical Planning, Natural Resources and Co-operatives, Ezechiel Joseph, will serve as Acting Prime Minister.
