THE Veterans Football tournament being organized by Veterans in Sports Inc and Caribbean Alliance Insurance resumes this weekend with four matches at the Marchand Grounds.

On Saturday, from 4:00 p.m. Anse la Raye plays the Mon Repos Sharks and at 6:00 p.m. Central Vieux Fort plays Micoud.

On Sunday, from 4:00 p.m. defending champions Soufriere will play Laborie in a must win situation for both teams; while at 6:00 p.m. Valley Legends take on Vieux Fort South in what is expected to be an eye catching.

Meanwhile, this past weekend, at the Marchand Grounds a total of 17 goals were scored in the four matches played including another hat – trick scored, this time from the boots of Roger Celestin of Caricom Masters.

On Saturday, in Game 1 – Vieux Fort South trounced Laborie Veterans 5 – 1 on a surface that proved difficult for some of the players due to mid-morning showers. For VFS, the goal scorers were Ernie Boudatt in the 8th minute, Nicholas Marcellin in the 11th minute, and Tyron Charloe in the 25th minute, Laborie Curlin Holder added insult to injury as he attempted to clear the ball on the Laborie goal line, resulting in an own goal to leave the halftime score 4 – 0.

On the resumption, Laborie pulled one back through Justus St. Aimee to make it 4 – 1, but Trevor Modeste put the issue beyond Laborie’s reach when he converted another in the 82nd minute to claim all three points.

In Game 2, Gros Islet defeated Micoud 2 – 1 in a keenly contested matchup. For Gros Islet the goal scorers were Kevin Mortley in the 22nd and Kenny Frederick in the 25th minute. Micoud’s lone scorer was David Charles in the 49th minute.

On Sunday, FLOW Lancers FC needed a win to stay alive in the main draw as they took on Behind the College All Stars, and they did just what the doctor ordered, winning 2 – 1.

Behind the College All Stars took the lead in the 32nd minute to start a mini type celebration on the outside, but that was short lived as FLOW Lancers FC struck in the 33rd minute through Nigel Springer to make things all even again. FLOW Lancers FC nosed ahead in the 44th minute when Anthony Paul’s shot eluded the BTCAS to give FLOW Lancers FC the victory.

In Game 2, former champions Caricom Masters rolled over Prophets and Kings 4 – 1. Celestin was the star of the match when he scored a hat – trick with goals in the 24th, 72nd and 82nd minutes Julian Joseph scored the other in the 79th minute.

For Prophets and Kings, Dunstan Nicholas opened the scoring in the 7th minute, but the PAK’s never took advantage of the many scoring opportunities as the likes of Fleming James and Rohan Dolor never looked a shadow of themselves when they defeated Anse la Raye 3 – 1 in their opening encounter at the PMG in Vieux Fort.
