A record number of shooters are expected to show up at the Bordelais Shooting Range in Dennery tomorrow as the National Shooting Association stages the Alpha Target Tournament. The competition is scheduled to commence from 10:00 a.m.
According to association secretary, Avery Trim, the tournament comprises an IPSC Target challenge with six stages with a round count of 100.
The match structure will include standard, open category and power factor – minor only.
Following the event, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall winners will receive awards.
Trim said the association is grateful for the continued participation of its members in the range sessions and based on previous tournaments there has been great improvement in the shooters. Sunday’s tournament is expected to be of a high standard as the St. Lucian shooters strive to compete at the regional and international levels.
Meanwhile, the association is reminding its members to always keep their guns pointed in a safe direction, keep fingers off the trigger until ready to shoot, keep the guns unloaded until ready to use, and always treat a gun as being loaded when handling. The above rules apply everywhere, not just on the range.
