B-ball: Two Group Matches Still To Go

THE final round in the group stage of the KFC Commercial Basketball League Group continues tomorrow when Saint Lucia Teachers Union and the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (Combined Forces) square off from 7:00 p.m. Sandals will play Le Sport on Friday.

Following the Sandals/Le Sport encounter, fans will see the commencement of the quarter-finals from 8:00 p.m. at the Beausejour Indoor Facility.

Meanwhile, last Friday, in a Group B double-header, Massy Stores delivered a 62-28 thrashing to Windjammer. However, neither of team will be advancing to the quarterfinal stage.

In the second matchup, ECFH/BOSL and IRD Husslers battled it out to sit on top of Group B standings.

IRD, with an injured Keegan Preville, lost to BOSL/ECFH 51-65. For BOSL/ECFH, KFC Player of the Game, lightning-fast guard Jean-Michel Eloise had 14 points 7 rebounds, 7 steals and 4 assists, while Shamoir Jn. Baptiste led the bankers in scoring with 26 points and 11 rebounds.

Despite a nagging injury, Preville, was still able to rake in 19 points, 9 rebounds and Ron Dumurville 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Both teams will advance to the quarter-finals.

In two exciting match-ups on Saturday, Saint Lucia Fire Service and Digicel 4G Ballers competed for Group C’s top spot.

The firemen continued their dominant performance with a 70-59 victory. The SLFS’s well- balanced attack was led by KFC Player of the Game veteran Desmond Vidal with 22 points and 17 rebounds. The other half of the “twin towers” combo Marcian Calderon contributed 21 points and 11 rebounds.

In a losing effort, Fabian Florton led Digicel with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals.

Digicel and the firemen will also be advancing to the quarterfinal stage.

Meanwhile, the Media Association also secured a quarterfinal spot by defeating Insurance All Stars 71-59.

Arthur Lisson led the charge for the short-handed Media team with 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. The Player of the Game Paul Hippolyte had an amazing showing, contributing 22 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Insurance All Stars, also undermanned with only one bench player, got 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals out of Simeon Hippolyte.
