THE community of Mon Repos came alive on Sunday morning the eve of St. Lucia’s 37th Independence Anniversary as supporters of the various teams were out in their numbers to witness the Mon Repos Road Relay now in its 27th year.
The event that is staged by the Youth and Sports Council and a number of business partners from the community saw the Road Busters Running Team doing the double by winning the men and ladies category ahead of a combined thirteen other teams.
The Road Busters with their seasoned campaigners like Jason Sayers, Michael Bissette, Anthony Neptune, Wayne St. Ange, Sheldon Descartes, John Gaston, Nigel Leonce and Sanjay Jean finished in a time of 1 hour 43 minutes 43 seconds, while the females Chantal Glasgow, Solange Pettit, Mary Roberts, Analia Phillip, Kesha Felix, Blossom Gonzaga, Miranda Cheribin and Kandra Massey finished in a time of 2 hours 35 minutes 46 seconds. The two teams led from start to finish as they made light work of the 27 kilometer race to win the top prize of EC$2000.00 each.
Coming in second place in the male category – El Nino in a time of 1 hour 50 minutes 40 seconds, and third AngeGer in a time of 1 hour 57 minutes 05 seconds, Martinique was fourth in a time of 1 hour 57 minutes 47 seconds. The second place ladies team was Micoud Secondary in a time of 2 hours 39 minutes 19 seconds, and third El Nino 2 hours 48 minutes 45 seconds.
