FOR the past five years, the Saint Aloysius R.C Boys’ Infant School has included an Independence Walk – ‘Walk with St. Lucian Pride’ on its annual calendar of activities during the month of February in observance of the country’s Independence. The objective of the walk is to instil a sense of patriotism in our students.
This year the school salutes local musicians under the theme “Recognizing and Celebrating the Growth of St. Lucian Music.”
“ The many strides made in the area of music since 1979 certainly warrant recognition and appreciation as the Arts continue to be a major source of employment, entertainment and much needed relaxation”, the school said in arelease.
The route for the walk is from the R.C. Boys’ Infant School onto Peynier Street, cross Jeremie Street onto the John Compton Highway pausing near traffic lights opposite Serenity Park, taking right onto DesirAvenue going around the park onto Government Buildings, take a right onto the pedestrian crossing back onto the John Compton Highway.
A selected number of artistes will engage students in a short musical concert in the school’s yard.
An invitation is extended to all musicians and all lovers of music to join the walk next Friday, February 19 from 9:00 a.m.
