THREE matches in the Independence Netball Classic were played this past weekend at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex all from Division Group three.
Mabouya Valley caused an upset when they beat the undefeated Anse la Raye Team 28 – 20. The ladies from the Valley led throughout 6 – 3; 14 – 9; 23 – 15 and finally 28 – 20. For Mabouya Valley Under – 16 national player Merkissa Theodule netted 22 from 39 attempts and Daynia Aurelien 6 from 10 attempts. For Anse la Raye Sherlana St. Croix netted 9 from 24 attempts and Eulita Prospere 11 from 30 attempts.
In the second encounter Shamrock won over Entrepot 39 – 16. Shamrock led all quarters 11 – 6; 24 – 9; 29 – 12 and final score 39 – 16.
Shamrock shooters Brittany McDonald netted 16 from 25; Joanie Remy scored 10 -24; Nicole Nestor netted 8 from 17 and Ariel Leonard scored 5 from 9 attempts.
For Entrepot shooters Lian John netted 8 from 25 attempts and Nalla Jules scored 8 from18 attempts.
Avengers secured the third victory when they defeated N V Ballers 38 – 23. Avengers led 11 -5; 19 -11; 31 -14 and final score 38 – 23. Avenger’s shooters Siana Jameson netted 32 from 45 attempts and youngest player of the tournament, 12 year old Dasha Eugene scored 6 from 13 attempts. For N. V. Baller’s shooters Juslene Joseph netted 14 from 21 and Niomi Raymond 9/14.
