Sagicor Launches Visionaries Challenge In Schools

REGIONAL insurance company Sagicor recently announced the launch of the Sagicor Visionaries Challenge in fun style with a movie screening at the Caribbean Cinemas.

Students from secondary schools across St. Lucia were treated to the movie Tomorrowland, which centres around a young girl’s adventures as she explores what the future may hold for the human race.

The Sagicor Visionaries Challenge, now in its third year, was introduced by Sagicor and its partners, the Caribbean Science Foundation and the Caribbean Examinations Council, as a vehicle to promote the merits of science, technology, engineering and mathamatics (S.T.E.M.) and to foster a greater understanding and enthusiasm around these areas.

At the launch event, General Manager of Sagicor Life Inc in St. Lucia Leathon Khan remarked, “For the past 175 years Sagicor has provided sound financial guidance for our clients and we endeavour to continue serving generations to come. Therefore, as we look to the future for our company so too must we look to the future for our communities. We want to do our part to solidify progress for the region through the accomplishments of tomorrow’s citizens. As technology continues to change not even daily but by the minute, we must arm ourselves with the knowledge to keep up.”

The Challenge will be open for entries in January 2016 and will offer GoPro cameras and Samsung smart watches to students of the winning national champion team. The grand prize will be a trip to Florida with visits to the Kennedy Space Center, the Museum of Science & Industry and Disney World’s EPCOT Theme Park.
