MARIGOT FC and RV Juniors will face off in the finals of the Roseau Valley Football League Big 8 Knock Out Football Tournament this weekend following wins over Morned’or FC and CT Foundation in semi final encounters last Sunday.
Marigot FC had the better of CT Foundation 3 – 0. Mandela William opened the scoring for his team in the 37th minute to leave the half time score 1 – 0. On the resumption, William made it 2 – 0 in the 56th minute, then followed it up with a penalty in the 79th minute to secure a final berth.
CT Foundation will have themselves to blame as their strikers failed to capitalize on numerous scoring opportunities offered to them. Marigot FC custodian Novel James was the stand out custodian during the 90 minutes of the encounter, James made five brilliant saves and frustrated CT Foundation strikers best efforts in front of goal.
In the second semi final, RV Juniors was the better team on the afternoon as they went on to defeat Morne d’Or 2 – 1. Nickey Henry put RV Juniors ahead in the first minute of the encounter, followed by a 22nd minute strike from Nilan William. But Morne d’Or pulled one back in the 43rd minute after they were awarded a penalty. Benjamin was the goal scorer.
