Dream 11 T10 Cricket Produces Some Exciting Results

On Monday, the 2024 Dream 11 St Lucia T10 Blast continued at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds (PMG), in Vieux Fort, with more pulsating action.

In Match number 15, (Soufriere Sulphur City Stars vs South Castries Lions), an unbeaten partnership of 101 between Junior Henry and Dwight Thomas followed by inspired bowling from Shanii Mesmain (3 for 8), Wayne Prospere (2 for 5), and Dalius Monrose (2 for 13), left South Castries in disarray as Soufriere thrashed them by a 55-run margin.

Player-of-the-Match, Junior Henry with 79 from 36 balls, struck seven fours and six sixes, while Dwight Thomas joined the fun with 21 from 19 balls as he helped himself to two fours and a six.

Half-way through the innings the total was 41 – the next five overs produced 75 runs. It all proved too much for South Castries who replied with 61 for 9 at the end of the allotted 10 overs. Only two batters reached double figures – Collinus Callendar 12 and Kensley Paul 11.

Match # 14 – Gros Islet Cannon Blasters vs Vieux Fort North Raiders.

Gros Islet Cannon Blasters blasted their highest total to-date in the tournament – 127 for 4, as they thrashed Vieux Fort North Raiders by 57 runs.

A rapid innings from Tyrel Chicot (46 not out from 23 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes), and Jard Goodman (42 from 22 with 2 fours and 4 sixes) set up the score. The two featured in a third-wicket stand of 56 from 26 deliveries.

Alleyne Prospere was Vieux Fort North most successful bowler with 2 for 13.

In reply, Vieux Fort North sunk slowly and could only muster 70 for 7 before the overs ran out. Only Alleyne Prospere took the attack to Gros Islet with 27 from 13 with 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Player-of-the-Match, Tyrel Chicot completed a successful and satisfying day, finishing with 2 for 10.

For Vieux Fort North, it was their fourth defeat in as many matches.

Vieux Fort North Raiders 70 for 7 in overs.

Match #12 – GI Cannon Blasters vs. Soufriere SCS.

Former West Indies youth player and captain of Gros Islet, Kimani Melius blasted the first century of the tournament with a thumping knock of 102* off 41 balls (5×4, 12×6) in a total of 124 for 1 to propel his team to victory in a nail bitter versus Central Castries (April,11). His opening partner Charde Goodman scored 15 off 19 (1×4, 1×6) as they shared in an opening stand of 93 (8 overs).

Facing an imposing target, Soufriere made a spirited effort to overhaul the score but fell 3 runs short. Skipper Stephen Naitram 32 of 14 (4×4, 2×6) and Jamal James 53* off 28 balls (4×4, 4×6) got to 1/43, with Vernilius Gabriel 12 (5) and Jaden Elibox 15 (10) contributing to the chase.

With one wicket each, bowlers Bjorn Fanis, Ryan Goodman and Tyrel Chicot were able to subdue Soufriere.

But in the end, Gros Islet scraped through in an intense match.
