FOLLOWING on the heels of what can best be described as a successful staging of the second annual St.Lucia Triathlon held this past weekend. The St. Lucia Athletics Association will on Sunday December 7 stage its cross country championships.
The event will feature teams comprising six athletes in the following categories and time schedules: Boys’ Open – 6km/ 6 laps, Men’s Open – 8km / 8 laps, Ladies’ Open – 4km / 4 laps
Races scheduled are as follows from 8:00 am Junior Women, 8:45 a.m. Junior Men, 9:15 a.m. Women and 9:45 a.m. Men.
Following the event there will be a brief medal presentation.
According to SLAA Secretary Lisa Joseph, registration is currently ongoing and closes on Monday at 5:00 p.m.
The SLLA is also reminding all athletes, coaches and team managers to note that transportation to the race leaves the Derek Walcott Square (DRS) from 7:00 a.m.
A word of caution to athletes, coaches and team managers: there will be no registration prior to the start of the race on Sunday.
Meanwhile, individuals interested in serving as technical officials for the 2015 track and field season and beyond are asked to submit their names and contact details to the Secretary no later than Saturday to register for the preliminary course scheduled from December 1 to 12.
