Director of Martinique Regional Health Agency first to be vaccinated

Last week Thursday was a monumental moment for healthcare on the island of Martinique.

Director-General of Martinique Regional Health Agency, Jérôme Viguier, was the first on the island to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to local reports, he received the first dose of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine on Thursday morning and is expected to receive the second injection in 21 days.

Martinique health authorities have begun vaccinating health workers with a focus on the elderly in nursing homes and long-term care units, professionals working in these establishments, caregivers and firefighters over 50 years of age or with comorbidities to follow.

Saint Lucia’s proposed month for arrival of vaccines is March.
