THE Bordelais Correctional Facility auditorium last Friday was a hive of celebration as that institution paid homage to three of its officers with 20 years of service. Receiving awards on the day were Correctional Officers Etheldred James and Michael Casimir. Absent was Correctional Officer Cecil Jn Baptiste.
Present at the ceremony were the Senator and Minister for Home Affaire, Justice and National Security, Honourable Hermangild Francis; Deputy Director of BCF, Leonard Terance; other staff members from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Justice and Social Security; the Intelligence Unit of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force; senior officers and staff of the BCF; the Saint Lucia Fire Service and members of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Band.
Assistant Deputy Director of Administration at the BCF, Patrick Allain congratulated the two awardees who were presented with medals.
Allain said, “It’s a great honour to recognise the invaluable contributions these officers have made to the BCF. During their service they have demonstrated their dedication and possession of a diverse range of talents, skills, knowledge and professionalism for which I thank them.”
“I would like to congratulate the three officers recognised today.”
Allain continued, “The BCF is one of the leading Correctional Facility in the Caribbean, having introduced some management information systems which encompass the human resource, admissions, reception, medical and the intelligence department. It is the first of its kind in any facility in the Caribbean”.
He said, “You all have served with distinction and honor for which you should be extremely proud. I am really delighted that this ceremony provides us an opportunity to differentiate your contribution to the BCF”
Meanwhile, Assistant Deputy Correction Officer at the BCF, Wayne Charlery thanked his fellow officers for their unwavering support to the national security of this country. He said, “The service that you have given and continue to render in this great struggle between peace and disorder is nothing short of remarkable”.
“The defining feature of this struggle, our dedication to duty and manifest discipline, protects all citizens, notwithstanding the forfeit of our own lives. It is not merely for today, that we should remember and celebrate this defining feature, but for all time to come, so that we preserve this legacy for our successors and generations to come” He noted.
