THERE is an old but familiar saying “there’s no place like home.”

That’s what the St. Lucia Zouks are banking on, when they play four crucial matches in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), starting today at the recently named Darren Sammy National Cricket Ground against the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Going into this encounter, Zouks have won only one of four matches played to date but hope their fortunes will change playing on their home turf. They are currently at the bottom of the table with two points.

The Zouks will again be in action on Saturday from 12.00 noon when they play Barbados Tridents. Then on Sunday, they go up against Guyana Warriors and meet Trinbago Knight Riders on Tuesday before heading to Florida to play the Jamaica Tallawahs on Saturday and Sunday .

Zouks Captain Darren Sammy who is back on familiar ground along with other St. Lucian teammates West Indies ODI opening batsman Johnson Charles and mid order batsman KeddyLesporis on yesterday called for all St. Lucians to come out in their numbers to support the team.

Sammy at the time was speaking at a brief press conference at the Bay Gardens Beach resort following a fun filled event with members of the Zouks team and St. Lucia Sports Academy (SLSA) dubbed “Olympic Day”.

Sammy went on to say: “We need to get a win and I think St. Lucia is where we will turn things around; we have not been playing to our full potential. We have allowed things to slip away from us. We are looking forward to giving the St. Lucia crowd what they want.” The players and their new found friends from SLSA took part in volleyball, swimming and athletics.
