OWEN ARTHUR FOR SLP CONFERENCE

FORMER Barbadian Prime Minister Owen Arthur will deliver the feature address when the Saint Lucia Labour Party holds the Open Session of its Annual Conference of Delegates and Celebration of the Party’s 65th. Anniversary on December 6.

The event will take place at the Philip Marcellin Stadium in Vieux Fort under the theme: “The passion, the pain and the power: A new journey begins.

Political Leader and Prime Minister, Dr. Kenny Anthony will deliver the annual political leader’s speech to the conference.

A release from the party said that the SLP is finalizing “a solid programme” to create a combination of serious speeches and musical entertainment to truly celebrate “its 65 years of struggle for bread, freedom and justice.”

Some of Saint Lucia’s top entertainers, including Invader, Educator, Mongstar, Meshac, Blackboy and Messi and others will be on hand to jazz up the celebration. Musical accompaniment will be provided by DYP with Brass.

The day’s event will begin with a church service at the Vieux Fort Catholic Church starting at 11:00 a.m.

The release said: “The SLP invites all members, supporters and well-wishers to come together for a day of celebration of the journey started in1950 and to mark the start of a new journey in search of a better life for all Saint Lucians.”

In the meantime the party will hold a national public meeting at the Castries Market Steps this evening.
